“Look at the tree in the front yard. The tree doesn’t seem to be doing anything. It stands there, vigorous, fresh, and beautiful, and everyone profits from it.”

– Thich Nhat Hanh

We often go out of our way to make other people happy. This is a great thing to do, but without being happy ourselves, it is not possible to offer others happiness. In order to make others happy, you must first be happy yourself. This shows the correlation between being and doing. If you are not successful in being, you cannot be successful in doing. You can only be successful in being when you are living in alignment with your true self.

Success and happiness come from knowing that you are on the right path. If you do not feel as though you are on the right path, you will not be happy. This is why the realization of your path is so important. You do not have to arrive at the end of your path in order to be happy. It is about knowing that you are living in alignment with your true self and fulfilling your emotional, spiritual and relationship needs.

How do you know you are on the right path?

There is no one universal answer to this question, but paying attention to what inspires you, excites you and brings you to a state of bliss (even when others may not understand), is what can lead you to your true path. You will always feel a sense of confidence on this path because you are using your mind and body in their most powerful ways. When you become aware of what inspires and excites you the most and live accordingly to these things, you will undeniably be guided to your path.

Today, pay attention to anything that comes up that inspires or moves you. Allow yourself to be guided to your path and you will no longer have to take action in order to make others happy. You will make others happy just by being.
